English Paper (60% of Language GCSE)
You must attempt past papers from AQA’s website. The link is

I will mark any attempts you make for you. This work can be done while ignoring
timed conditions until you are happy with what you are doing and then you can
try to do it quickly. It is important that you do these questions routinely.
Look at the mock examination to see which questions are your priorities. Check
your notes in your books about how to tackle the questions in Section A particularly
and then do examples. Scan, annotate, plan and draft.
English controlled assessment on ‘An Inspector Calls’ (15%
of Language GCSE)
‘Explore the ways community is presented in ‘An Inspector
Calls.’ This is your title. I have suggested a character plan and a conceptual
plan as options. The conceptual plan would be to focus on ever-enlarging ideas
of community, from family to class to society. Each section should have
quotations from different parts of the play, techniques used in the language of
these quotations and concepts we have discussed. Check your books.
Alternatively, structure the essay by looking at different characters (Sheila,
Mr Birling and the inspector all have different views of community). Again,
though, quotations, techniques and concepts are needed. Complete a practice
plan by half term, so that you can copy up and revise your plan when you return
after half term. The assessment will be on 4th, 6th and 7th
March.
English Literature work
All English Literature work on ‘Of Mice and Men’, ‘An
Inspector Calls’ and the poems should be done in class after half term. This is
not your priority for prep.
